Annual Silent Auction: What is it?

To understand the Annual Silent Auction beyond a one word answer, it helps to start at the beginning. Pleasant Ridge Montessori used to be a traditional neighborhood school, until the parents and community worked together so that when they re-opened the doors of the new building in 2009, Pleasant Ridge would have the Montessori method of teaching.  The Pleasant Ridge School Foundation was created by passionate parents who support the vision of PRM: to offer every neighborhood child a quality Montessori education, in a peaceful and environmentally conscious setting that nurtures a love of learning.  Every year after Winter break, they host a Silent Auction to raise money to support this vision.

The original Silent Auction was lovingly pulled off by Caitlin Siegel Hartzler and Carol Gillotti in 2010 at the Losantiville Country Club.  In 2012, Angie Young took over leading the event.  Over the years, it has moved venues couple of times.  Most recently it was held at the Red Balloon Café +Play.  This year, Nicole Webb has taken over the organizing and production with the theme of New Beginnings along with a new location, the Kennedy Heights Art Center Event Center!

Last year, in 2018, the Silent Auction raised $18,000!  The goal this year is to raise $20,000!  It is more than an amazing night of fundraising.  It is a night that gives hope and strong support to PRM.  In the past, the money raised gave the school 22 new guitars for the music program and singing bowls for each classroom.  Currently, the focus is to provide training to staff in Mindfulness and Trauma Informed Care and repair and develop the outdoor education area behind the school.

So, what more can be added to: what is it? You’ll be welcomed at the door with smiles, laughter and music and an aroma of great food.  Many classrooms work hard to create a class project that will move your heart.  Local artists donate work and many businesses and supporters donate tickets and vouchers!  This supports the passion of PRM.  The auction will be online as well, so you may bid remotely. Find a babysitter, buy your tickets and come to the Silent Auction on January 26th at 7pm!
