Fall Festival: A Magical Transformation

Saturday, October 13th, Pleasant Ridge Montessori transformed into a magical festival celebrating PRM’s first ever Read-a-Thon!  Walking down the hall, the warm smell of buttery popcorn and sweet cotton candy transported families to a carnival with bright primary colors. Students gathered in the art room for face painting and hair chalk.  Friends painted friends faces with delight and giggles.  The warm yellow light of the popcorn maker and colorful lights of the board game room flooded the hallway while bright sun made the blue cotton candy look like puffy white clouds floating around. From there, daylight flooded everywhere. Baked goods and pizza were delicious and enticing in the cafeteria.  But every little foot ran into the gym where the bounce house, four square, corn hole, basketball and many other fun carnival games had lines of children happy to win a prize at every game!  Thirst would bring students and parents to the drink station. On the stage of the cafetorium, over sized jenga, checkers and connect four brought small children to the stage who were fascinated by the size difference.   The whole scene from behind the stage put into perspective how PRM is not just a school that lives and breathes from 7:40 am -2:15 pm Monday through Friday, but the magical light illuminated a place that encompasses people of the whole community.  A community that strives to nurture the whole child – that came together the past two weeks to support the Read-a-thon where students read everyday and family, friends and community members donated time and money. The Fall Festival was a magical celebration of these readers and this support!

A huge thank you to all the volunteers who made this day possible!
