STUDENTS PARTICIPATE IN LESSONS IN OUR SCHOOL GARDEN AND NATURESCAPE WHICH ENRICH THEIR LEARNING EXPERIENCE.

Maria Montessori believed that a child’s connection to his or her environment is critical to that child’s well-being. At PRM, that connection is fostered with programs in outdoor education at every age level. Students are encouraged to develop a respect for, an understanding of, and a sense of responsibility for the environment.

Together, the Garden and Naturescape serve as an outdoor, interdisciplinary, experiential classroom. Classroom concepts are supported and illustrated in real world, hands-on lessons. They provide an awareness of the seasons through the cycles of planting, growing, and harvesting of plants. Due to weather, the naturescape has not been usuable, but Imago and PRM Garden community and working to make the outdoor space grow!

The School Garden at Pleasant Ridge Montessori nurtures each child’s appreciation and understanding of the natural world by involving them in the processes of planning, maintaining, and enjoying the harvest from a sustainable, ecologically-friendly garden. The Naturescape provides a natural space for learning and play where children can experience and observe a more wild setting.

The Garden also has several plots available for use by community members. If you are interested in more information about renting a Community Garden plot, please click here!
