Wow, it is certainly hard for me to believe that we are into the month of May and the home stretch of another great school year!
Feels like we were just nervously wondering what the new wing of the building would look like and now for over nine months it has welcomed our students and teachers with open arms allowing our entire school community to access some much-needed breathing room… especially this month when the energy and excitement levels are high and as everyone prepares for the end of school!
Hopefully despite all the energy and events, we can still make time for some appreciation. Appreciating the fact that our students have grown, and learned, and problem solved, and built valuable relationships this year. And the fact that our school building is filled with adults who encourage, support, guide, and genuinely care about the wellbeing of our students. This week is actually dedicated to those same adults – so let’s show them our appreciation!
Last but not least, let’s appreciate the countless volunteers, who have donated one hour, one event, or one year of their time to support our school. These individuals have coached a sports team, signed up to bring food to a staff lunch, attended a field trip, voted at a Foundation meeting, run the scoreboard in the gym, planned a party, worked in the school garden, or championed a fundraiser or an event at PRM – maybe even for the first time! Volunteers are integral to the success of our school because they make the “extras” happen. It’s why students and adults alike want to be a part of our unique community.
May is also sadly the time when lots of these amazing volunteers need to move on – perhaps because their youngest is a 6th grader, or because they are term limited in their role, or simply because their time in charge has passed. Because of this, we NEED NEW VOLUNTEERS LIKE YOU to step up and fill the void. PLEASE STRONGLY CONSIDER if this could be your time. Our school ROCKS because of people like you who say yes to one hour, one event, or one year!!!
Attached you will find a list of the three most important roles that need filled, and that will be voted on at the May PTO meeting – if one of these is calling your name, now is the time! Reach out via [email protected] and we will make sure you get connected to the people who can help and support you.
Thanks for a great year, Allie Goodman and Erin Spears (out-going PTO Co-Presidents) and Kate Grise (incoming PTO President)
