Read-a-thon Information: In the fall of 2018, PRM will held its first ever Read-A-Thon! The Read-A-Thon is designed to reinforce good reading habits while raising funds to support the school. In order to make this Read-A-Thon a success, we will need support from our family, friends and neighbors. Take the time to reach out to them and use this script to guide your conversation.
“On Sept. 27, 2019, I will begin a Read-A-Thon at my school, Pleasant Ridge Montessori. My goal is to complete 7 reading sessions in one week. Please consider supporting me in one of the following ways:
commit to reading with me
commit to reminding me to read
make a donation to my school
Do any of these options sound like something you could commit to?”
To make a one-time tax deductible donation:
with a credit card, go to www.prmrocks.org/readathon
with cash or check, make checks payable to: PRM Foundation
Thank you in advance for your generosity and support!
Reading Logs/Donation Envelope will be sent home on Wednesday, Sept. 25th. This year, there will only be one to fill out. Any and all reading your child is part of counts towards their reading sessions. This includes all reading they complete with another person reading to them or by themselves. This is an honor code system, relying on students, families, and teachers working together to complete the logs. The reading can be done at school or at home. Some experts recommend 20 minutes as a guide for 1 session, depending on age.
Send cash and check donations into school on Oct. 4th in your child’s backpack for volunteers to pick up in classrooms. The reading log is printed on the donation envelope this year, so it will need to be returned on Oct. 4th whether there are donations inside or not.
All students will receive a bookmark.
The student with the most impressive reading log in each class will recieve a free 2019 PRM Reading Roadrunner tshirt.
The class with the highest participation at each level will earn a pizza party with Principal Simpson.
Return your donation envelope on Oct. 4th to earn 1 free cotton candy at the Fall Festival.
Read 7 sessions (record on reading log and return to school on Oct. 4th) to earn a free wristband for unlimited inflatable fun at the Fall Festival on Oct. 12th.
